Privacy

This page explains what miloszfalinski.com collects and why. The site is run by Milosz Falinski. Questions and requests go to hi@miloszfalinski.com.

Newsletter and membership

When you subscribe, the site stores your email address, your name if you give one, your approximate location (worked out from your IP address when you sign up), and the page that led you to subscribe. I use these to send you new posts by email and for nothing else. I never sell or share your details.

Emails are sent through Mailgun. It records whether an email is opened, and links in emails are tracked so I can see which ones are clicked.

If you choose a paid membership, Stripe handles the payment. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach this site.

Signing in sets a cookie that keeps you signed in. The site sets no other cookies.

Visitor statistics

The site counts visits with Ghost's built-in analytics. For each page view it records the page, the site you came from, your browser, operating system, device type, language and approximate country. It does not use cookies and does not store IP addresses. The data is held by Tinybird. If you are signed in as a member, the visit is linked to your membership.

To credit a sign-up to the post that led to it, your browser keeps a list of the last pages you visited here. It is kept for the current tab only and is cleared when you close it.

Where data is kept

The site runs on a DigitalOcean server in Frankfurt, Germany. Mailgun, Stripe and Tinybird process data on the site's behalf, some of it outside the UK and EU. Sign-up and search scripts load from jsDelivr, which sees your IP address as any web server does.

Your choices

The newsletter is sent with your consent, and every email has an unsubscribe link. Visitor statistics rely on a legitimate interest in knowing which posts people read. Your membership is kept until you ask for it to be deleted. To see, correct or delete the data held about you, email hi@miloszfalinski.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
