I've just released version 2.1 of Moment, a focus timer I've been building for Apple devices and the web. If you know me from the wallpapers, this is the other thing I make.

The idea is simple. You write down what you want to do, pick a duration on the dial, and focus. When the session ends, you note how it felt. Over time Moment shows you the patterns in your work, without streaks or scores. It's a timer that pays attention to how you feel, not just how much you got done.

You can:

Visit the Moment website or get it free on the App Store.

If you're here for the wallpapers: the four themes in Moment pair nicely with the Liquid Glass Panels set, and the iOS app has backgrounds of its own that I'm quite fond of. There's also a new wallpaper set on the way, which I'll share soon.

Why build another timer app?

I built the first version of Moment in 2023 while learning Swift. A few months after launch I became a father, and for the next couple of years my attention went to being a dad and growing Lumi from 2 to 11 people.

Earlier this year I found the time and the inspiration to come back. I rebuilt the app from scratch and launched v2 in June. With 2.1, it's slowly starting to feel like the thing I set out to make.

The reason it's a focus timer: after years in big tech I burnt out, and I noticed that the usual productivity tools made things worse rather than better. Most apps are built to help you get more done. Very few ask how you feel, and whether getting more done is even the right goal. They put output first.

Moment puts how you feel first. That shapes everything, from how you start a session to what the stats show you. The home screen is the part I'm proudest of so far. It's calm, and it feels good to open and use. There's a lot more I want it to do, and that's what I'm working on now.

If you try it and find it useful, a review on the App Store helps more than you'd think. And if something's off or you have an idea, tell me. I read everything and release updates every 2 weeks.
